International Atomic Energy Agency Technical Cooperation Europe Region National Liaison Officers Meeting Was Held At Our Hosting On 26-27 May 2022

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation Europe Region (TCEU) National Liaison Officers (NLOs) meeting was held at TENMAK’s hosting İstanbul on 26-27 May 2022. Turkiye hosted the NLO Meeting, which was held for face to face the first time in two years due to the travel restrictions reasoned by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Crotia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan,  Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and IAEA TCEU Director Ms. Eve-Külli Kala, TCEU Section-Head Mr. Jing Zhang and Program Management Officer Mr Christoph Henrich have attended the meeting.

 President of TENMAK, Prof Abdulkadir Balıkçı made the opening speech as the host of the meeting and conveyed his wishes to the participants. In his speech, Mr. President emphasized that our country's cooperation with the IAEA should be further strengthened and that our Organization is ready to contribute in any way in this context, and stated that it is our country policy to use nuclear energy, nuclear science and technologies for peaceful purposes.

IAEA-TCEU NLOs and IAEA Officers evaluated the status of ongoing regional projects and newly proposed regional project concepts for 2024-2025 TC cycle during the meeting.

The stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, General Directorate of Public Health and Ege University Medical Faculty Radiation Oncology and Ankara City Hospital Nuclear Medicine Departments made their presentations to promote our country's capacity to support the IAEA's ZODIAC and "Rays of Hope" programs on behalf of Türkiye at the meeting.
