Regional Workshop on Advanced Wastewater Treatment Solutions Using Radiation Technologies
The “Regional Workshop on Advanced Wastewater Treatment Solutions Using Radiation Technologies”, held in Ankara between 20 - 24 July 2026 and hosted by TENMAK-NÜKEN in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was successfully completed.
During the five-day workshop, which brought together experts from countries across the region, advanced wastewater treatment using radiation technologies was examined comprehensively through scientific presentations, hands-on training, laboratory studies and technical visits. By bringing together experts, researchers and technical personnel from different countries, the workshop provided a comprehensive environment for sharing knowledge and experience on the use of radiation technologies in advanced wastewater treatment.
The programme included country presentations, expert lectures, question-and-answer sessions, laboratory applications, sample preparation and analysis studies, dosimetry applications, pilot-scale irradiation training and technical facility visits. Topics including membranes, biological treatment, toxicology, chromatographic analysis, micropollutants, leachate, coke wastewater and economic feasibility were also discussed from multiple perspectives.
The workshop made a significant contribution to strengthening regional cooperation and developing sustainable environmental technologies. Assessments were also made regarding potential future joint research, technology transfer and innovative solution options that could be implemented on an industrial scale.
