PRESIDENT OF TENMAK

Ph.D. Abdullah Buğrahan Karaveli graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) and subsequently obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Department of Earth System Science at the same university.

His master’s thesis, entitled “Comparison of Nuclear Energy and Solar Energy in Terms of Economic Feasibility and Environmental Impacts for Türkiye,” received the METU Thesis of the Year Award, while his doctoral thesis, entitled “Development of the Algorithm for Solar TURnKEY, a Solar Electricity Software for Türkiye,” received the Prof. Ph.D. Mustafa Parlar Foundation Thesis of the Year Award.

From November 2009 to August 2019, Ph.D. Abdullah Buğrahan Karaveli served as a European Union Expert at the Ministry of Industry and Technology. At the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, he served as Head of the Foreign Investment Coordination Department from August 2019 to February 2021, Head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Environment (EVÇED) from February 2021 to June 2023, and Ministerial Adviser from June 2023 to June 2024. He also served for three years as a member of the Board of Directors of Nuclear Technical Support (NÜTED) Inc. In February 2024 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation (TEDAŞ). As of 10 November 2024, he was elected as Vice Co-Chairman of the Council of Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME).

Ph.D. Karaveli also serves as Acting President of the Energy Efficiency Association.

As of 28 June 2024, Ph.D. Karaveli was appointed as the President of the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK) and the Chairman of the Executive Board.
